Myanmar Refugees

500+ refugees settled in the Northern Kentucky area

  • Why Am I Here?
I am here because I have experienced religious persecution, and I am unable to speak out for democracy in a nation controlled by the military. I settled in the area after staying in the home of my own people who previously settled here.
  • What Do I Do?
I may pack fresh-cut vegetables for distribution to grocery stores, work in a warehouse, be a medical doctor, or own a grocery store.
  • What Do I Believe?
I practice Buddhism, the national religion, but others are Muslim. Many refugees in this area are Christians who attend Calvary Chin Baptist Church or Zion Chin Baptist Church in Florence, Kentucky.
  • What Are My Needs?
I have a need to know peace and love far from the physical and psychological persecution I experienced in Myanmar.
